AIIMS OPD saw around 17 lakh patients in 8 months: Min

New Delhi: A whopping 17 lakh patients visited AIIMS' Out Patient Department (OPD) here in a period of eight months since last July, Lok Sabha was informed.
"16.60 lakh patients visited AIIMS OPD since July 1, 2015 till March 8, 2016 and nearly 10,000 patients visited AIIMSÂ New Delhi everyday," Union Health Minister J P Nadda said in a written reply.
He also informed that DDA has alloted 14.95 acres of land next to the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre in AIIMS New Delhi.
"Expansion of various facilities including trauma centre at this piece of land is under consideration. Some of the steps taken by the government for upgradation of AIIMS in the national capital include setting up of National Cancer Institute, a new Mother and Child block, a new OPD block and a new hostel block," Nadda said.
