Delhi: PGI was awarded for being amongst the best 3 hospitals in India at an event organised to celebrate the 7th Indian Organ Donation Day by National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) by Union Health Minister JP Nadda.
Rajinder Kaur, Transplant Coordinator in the PGI, was also felicitated for being amongst the best three transplant coordinators by the Minister.
The highlight of the event was the felicitation of Tilak Raj, father of Sourav Duvedi, along with other family members, for their magnanimous and brave-heart decision to donate the organs of their deceased son for which they received a standing ovation from the audience for their gesture. On April 28, 2016 Sourav had met with a fatal accident. His parents consented for organ donation that helped save five lives after Sourav had been declared brain dead.
The occasion was graced by Faggan Singh Kulaste, Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Anupriya Patel, Minister of State MOHFW and Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda  as special guests of honour.
