Centre gives nod for AIIMS in Telangana

Hyderabad: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will come up in Telangana.
The Centre in a letter sent to Telangana government on Friday, has given in principle approval for establishing of the prestigious Institute in the state.
The Centre also directed the officials to identify land for the Institute.
A team from the Centre will soon be visiting the city to inspect the sites identifed by the state government.
Apart from AIIMS, two new Medical Colleges - one in Mahbubnagar and another in Siddipet, were also approved by the Centre. However, two other colleges proposed at Nalgonda and Suryapet are still pending with the government.
The state government had identified 200-acre sites in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy , Nalgonda and Warangal districts for AIMIS.
Expressing happy over the Centre's nod for the Institute, Telangana Minister for Health, C Laxma Reddy said AIIMS and the other two medical colleges will help the state provide quality medical services to the people of state .
The Institute was sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.
