Dolo 250 Suspension

Composition:

Each 5 ml (one teaspoonful) contains: Paracetamol IP 250 mg

Indications:

Analgesic and Antipyretic.

Pharmacodynamics:

Paracetamol is a centrally acting analgesic and antipyretic agent. Paracetamol does not possess any anti-inflammatory action. Paracetamol appears to produce analgesia by elevation of the pain threshold.

Notes:

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients/components of the product. Severe and active hepatic impairment.

Precautions & Warnings:

Do not take if allergic to paracetamol. Patients should contact their healthcare provider if symptoms persist (pain >10 days, fever >3 days). Paracetamol provides symptomatic relief only; additional therapy to treat the cause should be instituted when necessary.

Drug Interactions:

The anticoagulant effect of warfarin and other coumarins may be enhanced by prolonged regular daily use of paracetamol with increased risk of bleeding; occasional doses have no significant effect.

Adverse Reactions:

Adverse effects of paracetamol are rare and usually mild, although hematological reactions have been reported. Skin rashes and other hypersensitivity reactions occur occasionally.

Storage & Handling:

Store protected from light at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.

Dosage: 10-15 mg/kg per dose

Notes:
  • Maximum daily dosage: 60 mg/kg to be administered in divided doses of 10-15 mg/kg throughout 24 hours.
  • Do not take more frequently than every 4 hours. Dosing based on body weight of the child. Do not exceed stated dose.
  • Children under 1 month: Not Recommended.
  • Children 1-3 months: If fever persists for longer than 24 hours (4 doses), seek medical advice.
  • Use dropper to measure the accurate dose.
Contraindications:

Contraindicated in patients with a previous history of hypersensitivity to paracetamol or excipients.

Precautions & Warnings:

Paracetamol overdose may cause liver failure which may require liver transplant or lead to death. Keep out of sight and reach of children. It contains methyl- and propyl-hydroxybenzoates which may cause allergic reactions.

Use in Special Population:

Children: Use the lowest dose necessary for the shortest duration. For children 1-3 months, repeat dosage every 4 hours if necessary, but not more than 4 doses in 24 hours. Maximum daily dose: 60 mg/kg, divided into 10-15 mg/kg doses throughout 24 hours.
