Two prominent state hospitals in Himachal will have separate emergency medicine units- with full faculty assisting the unit function. The decision has been approved by the Himachal cabinet recently.
Coming alongside this decision is also the news if up gradation of two community centres in the state to civil hospitals by the cabinet, to further strengthen the public health infrastructure.
The hospitals are Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) in Shimla and Rajendra Prasad Medical College in Tanda town in Kangra district.
A government spokesperson said the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh also approved the regularisation of services of employees appointed under the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) in the IGMCH.
The cabinet also approved the upgradation of community health centres in Jaisinghpur and Sujanpur, both in Kangra district, to civil hospitals.
