Kanpur dehat medical college MBBS students protest over prolonged power cuts

Protest
Kanpur: A protest erupted at Kanpur Dehat Medical College after MBBS students raised their concerns over frequent and long power cuts in the campus and hostel areas.
Raising slogans against the administration, the students came out of their hostels around midnight on Thursday and said they are getting electricity for only about four to five hours a day.
Due to the erratic power supply, the students alleged that the repeated power cuts are badly affecting their studies and exam preparation. They also said that the situation has become worse in the intense hot weather.
Along with this, the students said continuous outages had also disrupted mobile charging, internet connectivity and water supply.
The protesting students claimed they had already informed the college authorities several times, but no proper solution was provided. They warned that if the issue continues, they may launch a larger protest.
After receiving information about the protest and the slogans at night, the police reached the spot and pacified the students, reports TOI.
College Principal Dr. Harmeet Singh said the administration has already written multiple times to senior officials and the electricity department about the issue. He added that the college is currently connected to a regular feeder line and demanded a dedicated line to ensure uninterrupted supply to the hospital and hostels.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the lack of basic facilities on campus for MBBS students at Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College, Chhainsa. In a video, students claimed that there is no proper access to clean drinking water and that the electricity arrangements in classrooms are inadequate. They said this has made the situation difficult, especially during the ongoing extreme heat. Students added that these issues are not new and have been continuing for a long time.
