ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS DAY
Every 10 December, Human Rights Day is observed to raise political awareness and encourage respect for the freedoms and rights established in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was passed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948.
WHY IS HUMAN RIGHTS DAY CELEBRATED ON 10TH DECEMBER?
Human Rights Day, an international day of observance, is held annually on December 10, in commemoration of the anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
WHAT ARE THE BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS?
Human rights cover a wide range of rights, such as Right to equality between men and women, Right to life, Freedom from torture, Freedom from slavery, Right to liberty and security of person, Freedom of movement, Everyone is entitled to these rights, without prejudice.
HISTORY OF HUMAN RIGHTS DAY
It marks the day that the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 1948. Human Rights Day focuses on the fundamental rights and freedoms that people globally are entitled to simply by virtue of being humans.
