INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2024: HEALTH PROBLEMS THAT ALMOST ALL INDIAN WOMEN EXPERIENCE

International Women's Day 2024 provides an opportunity to shed light on the health issues that many Indian women face. Despite progress in healthcare, numerous challenges persist, affecting women's well-being across the country.
Here are some health issues that almost all Indian women encounter:
ANAEMIA AND MALNUTRITION
Anaemia and malnutrition affect a significant number of Indian women, and both conditions can have long-term negative effects on the health of mothers and their offspring.
OBESITY AND METABOLIC SYNDROME
Obesity and metabolic syndrome are associated with unhealthy lifestyle choices among Indian women. This problem is made worse in rural regions by a lack of knowledge about the value of proper diet and exercise.
BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER
Among Indian women, breast and cervical cancer are the main causes of death. Early detection and treatment are hampered by cultural taboos and limited access to screening facilities, especially in rural areas.
OSTEOPOROSIS
Osteoporosis, or the loss of bone density, is a serious health concern for women, particularly those who have gone through menopause. In rural settings, lack of awareness about bone health and limited healthcare infrastructure pose challenges in managing this condition.
MENTAL HEALTH
Indian women frequently struggle with mental health issues like stress, worry, and depression. Social stigma, restricted access to mental health services, and gender norms all make these problems worse in rural regions.
THYROID DISORDERS
The metabolism and general health of Indian women are negatively impacted by thyroid diseases, which include hypothyroidism. Thyroid disorders may go misdiagnosed or untreated in rural locations due to restricted availability to thyroid screening and therapy.
