WHAT IS COUGH
Tussis, also known as coughing, is a quick ejection of air from the lungs that is either voluntary or involuntary that clears the throat and breathing path of foreign particles, bacteria, irritants, fluids, and mucus.
TYPES OF COUGH
There are various types of coughs, each with particular characteristics- 1. Productive Cough- A cough that produces phlegm or mucus is considered productive and could be an indication of pneumonia, bronchitis, or the flu. A more serious condition could be indicated by the mucus' color.
2. Dry or nonproductive cough- one which does not produce mucus. 3. Acute cough- It is the most typical type of cough. It only lasts around three weeks and then goes away on its own. There is no need for medical attention for this type of cough. Coughs that last longer than eight weeks may be a sign of a more severe or chronic lung condition.
PHASES OF COUGH
Inhalation Phase- The inhalation of air into the lungs causes the expiratory muscles to lengthen (2.5 - 3.0 liters), Compressive Phase- As a result of expiratory muscle contraction, the glottis closes, and intrathoracic pressure rises, Expiratory Phase- Excessive expiratory flow and loud coughs result from the glottis opening. A burst of high-velocity air is released.
WHO IS MORE PRONE TO COUGH
Anyone can be impacted by a cough.  But some people cough more frequently than others. These comprise those who: smoke substances, suffer from allergies, vape, especially those affecting the lungs or brain system, experience chronic illnesses, and Children frequently get sick, especially if they attend daycare or school.
PREVENTION OF COUGH
The following actions will help you avoid coughs brought on by infections: Avoid touching your lips, nose, or eyes, Use hand sanitizers, or frequently wash your hands with soap, water, and/or soap, Getting immunized against influenza, COVID-19, and pneumonia, Staying away from sick people.
