The National Deworming Day (NDD) was started in 2015 in India, with an aim to target 240 million children at risk for parasitic worms and to make every child in the country worm free. The Total number of children to be benefitted are 2,24,37,283.
The Indian government launched The National Deworming Day held on 10th of February aimed to reduce the cases of worm infection among kids (aged 1-19 years) all over India. It is a part of the National Health Mission. In 2015, It was launched in 11 States/UT where 8.98 crore children received a deworming tablet.
The objective of National Deworming Day is deworming all the preschool and school-age children (aged 1 to 19 years) through the platform of schools and Anganwadi Centers to help in improving their health, body nutritional, access to education and quality of life.
Albendazole and Mebendazole are the drugs used by the Government of India for the treatment of Intestinal worms. These drugs are provided to children between the ages of 2 and 19.
