NEET PG 2023: MBBS, BDS INTERNSHIP DEADLINE EXTENDED

Bringing massive respite to NEET PG 2023 and NEET MDS 2023 aspirants, the Health Ministry has extended the last date of completion of the MBBS internship to August 11 and BDS internship to June 30.
The ministry said that the decision was taken considering the future of over 13,000 MBBS students who were not eligible for the NEET PG 2023 exam due to the delayed internship.
The candidates had been pushing for an extension in the NEET PG 2023 exam by two to three weeks to reduce the gap between the result declaration and the counselling process. Seeing no resolution being provided by the concerned authorities on the matter despite several requests and deliberations, the doctors under the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) staged a protest at Jantar Mantar.
The NEET PG 2023 exam is scheduled for March 5. The aspirants sought the exam to be postponed by May-June. The NEET PG 2023 results will be out around March 31, and the counselling process will start in July 2023. Moreover, according to the previous eligibility criteria announced by NBE, the NEET PG 2023 candidates were required to complete their mandatory one-year MBBS internship on or before March 31.
Taking note of the fact that thousands of candidates were ineligible to appear in the examination, NBE extended the Internship Deadline. Earlier on January 13, the cut-off date was extended from March 31 to June 30. Even after the postponement of the exam, several thousands of candidates remained ineligible for the exam.
In a series of tweets, the Ministry of Health announced the extension to the internship deadline for NEET PG and NEET MDS aspirants. "Considering the future of more than 13,000 MBBS students across five states/UTs who were not eligible for NEET PG 2023 exam due to delayed internship, the Health Ministry has decided to extend the last date of completion of internship for eligibility to August 11, 2023," the Health Ministry said in a tweet.
According to the NBE notification released to this effect, it was announced, “In continuation of NBEMS notice dated January 13 and pursuant to the directions of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the cut-off date for completion of internship for the purpose of eligibility for NEET-PG 2023 has been further extended to August 11.
