WHAT IS NEW BORN CARE WEEK?
Newborn Care Week is celebrated every year in India from 15th to 21st November. The aim for celebrating the week is to raise awareness about the importance of the newborn care for child survival and development.
TIPS FOR TAKING CARE OF YOUR NEWBORN
Caring for your newborn starts with ensuring that as soon as the baby is born, he/she is given a complete health check. Doctors should also administer the birth shots of certain immunization vaccines like BCG, Hepatitis B, etc.
TAKING CARE OF A BABY AT HOME AFTER BIRTH
Mothers should offer their breasts often, at least every three hours during both day and night. Keep the baby's skin, cord stump, and eyelids clean and dry. Do not put anything, like medicine or a bandage, on the stump, unless a health worker tells you to.
SYMPTOMS OF A NEWBORN COLD
These are signs of a baby cold sneezing, coughing, irritability or fussing, red eyes, lack of appetite, trouble sleeping or staying asleep, and difficulty feeding due to a stuffy nose.
