WHAT IS WORLD ALZHEIMER'S DAY?
On September 21 each year, the special occasion of World Arthritis Day is marked to raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease, its prevention, and its diagnosis. This unique day strives to inform people about this widespread illness, its consequences on the body, and effective management strategies.
HISTORY OF WORLD ALZHEIMER'S DAY
In 1994, World Alzheimer's Day was first observed in Edinburgh to mark the 10th anniversary of Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI). In order to help Alzheimer's sufferers around the world and get them the necessary care, Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI) was established in 1984.
WHAT IS ALZHEIMER’S?
Alzheimer's disease is a progressive brain ailment that is distinguished by alterations in the brain that result in protein accumulation. Forgetting previous discussions or experiences is one of the disease's early symptoms. It worsens with time, leading to severe memory issues and a loss of daily function.
SYMPTOMS OF ALZHEIMER’S
Memory loss that interferes with daily life, difficulties with planning and problem-solving, difficulties with routine tasks, inability to place or identify the time, difficulty understanding spatial relationships and visual images, new difficulties with words in speech or writing, inability to keep track, lack of good judgement, and personality and mood swings are just a few of the symptoms of dementia.
WHAT CAUSES ALZHEIMER’S?
The most common causes of Alzheimer’s disease are— Family history, Cardiovascular diseases, Down’s syndrome, Age, and Head injury.
TREATMENT OF ALZHEIMER’S
Alzheimer's disease treatment consists of a number of different strategies. These include therapy, interventions or activities to support you, medication, and determining what is generating the symptoms or behaviour and minimising the reasons.
