World Health Day is an annual observance established by the World Health Organization (WHO) to draw attention to and raise awareness about international public health issues.
World Health Day is celebrated each year on 7th April globally. The day marks the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) and aims to draw attention to important health issues facing the world each year.
The global campaign was started by the World Health Organisation in the year 1950. This international body held the first World Health Assembly in 1948, which decided to observe April 7th as the World Health Day with effect from 1950.
The theme for World Health Day 2021 is ‘Building a fairer, healthier world’. Stating that our world is unequal, WHO said that the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how some people can have better access to health services and live healthier lives than others.
The total estimated number of people living with an anxiety disorder is approx 264 million. Also, close to 800 000 people die due to suicide every year, which is one person every 40 seconds.
