WORLD LYMPHOMA AWARENESS DAY 2023

15TH SEPTEMBER 2023
THEME FOR 2023
World Lymphoma Awareness Day's theme for 2023 is "We Can't Wait to Focus on Our Feelings." The main focus of the subject is on easing the patients' potential psychological and emotional difficulties.
WHAT IS WORLD LYMPHOMA AWARENESS DAY?
Every year on September 15th, World Lymphoma Awareness Day is held to raise awareness of lymphatic system cancer and to inform the public about how the lymphatic system, which is made up of the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus gland, and bone marrow, functions.
HISTORY OF WORLD LYMPHOMA AWARENESS DAY
Initiatives for World Lymphoma Awareness Day were first taken and organized by the non-profit Lymphoma Coalition in 2004, and they subsequently garnered enormous popularity across the globe.
The Lymphoma Coalition is a global network of lymphoma patient organizations from 52 nations that supports medical professionals, nurses, patient support organizations, patients, and their families by raising awareness of lymphoma symptoms, diagnosing it early, treating it effectively, and helping patients live healthy lives.
WHAT IS LYMPHOMA?
A form of blood cancer is lymphoma. It is lymphocyte or lymph node cancer. Lymph nodes function as filters that catch dangerous bacteria, fungi, and viruses, which lymphocytes then eliminate.
SYMPTOMS OF LYMPHOMA
Fevers higher than 100.4°F for 2 or more weeks without other another cause, Unintentional weight loss of 10% or more over the last 6 months, Significant fatigue (inability to work or perform usual activities), Excessive night sweats for more than 1 month without another cause.
WHAT CAUSES LYMPHOMA?
The exact cause of lymphoma is unknown. But it starts when a genetic mutation occurs in a lymphocyte, a type of white blood cell that fights infection. The mutation instructs the cell to divide quickly, producing lots of sick lymphocytes that keep reproducing. This causes the lymph nodes, spleen, and liver to enlarge as well as an excessive number of sick and inefficient lymphocytes to accumulate in the lymph nodes.
TREATMENT OF LYMPHOMA
Chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, CAR T-cell therapy, and bone marrow transplantation are some examples of treatment modalities.
