Mumbai: Three doctors have been placed under arrest by Shivaji Nagar police along with Crime Branch on Friday for allegedly practicing without proper registration with the medical council and permission.
As far as the other two doctors are concerned, they have degrees in homeopathy and naturopathy but these are not accepted by the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC).
Senior inspector of Shivaji Nagar police station Arjun Rajane confirmed the arrest. One of the trio was arrested earlier as well since he did not possess the paperwork required to practice in Maharashtra.
The trio was produced before the court and remanded in the custody of the Shivaji Nagar police.
This comes days after the Shivaji Nagar police had registered an FIR against a doctor, nurse, sweeper and the owner of Noor Hospital in suburban Govandi after a toddler died as he was allegedly administered a wrong infection by a sweeper at the establishment.
According to the police, the two-year-old boy was admitted to the hospital on January 8, as he was suffering from loose motions and one of the hospital employees allegedly administered an injection to the toddler, which was meant for a patient of malaria who was admitted in the same ward. The child died on January 13.
Recently, an officer told TIE that the police will continue to hold such raids to find out medical professionals who are working without the necessary paperwork.
