New Delhi: The non-availability of funds continues to delay the work at GTB Hospital, Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya (CNBC) and another hospital at Madipur which had been extending its deadline due to covid restrictions, pollution control etc.
The Public Works Department (PWD) is working on a 1,910-bed semi-permanent/ temporary facility at GTB Hospital, a 610-bed hospital at CNBC, where 80% of the work is completed, according to officials. However, the work has not come to a halt due to a fund shortage.
A PWD official said, "Earlier, the project was delayed due to reasons like Covid restrictions, and a ban on construction activities due to pollution. Now, the project is facing a fund crunch."
"Work has stopped due to non-availability of funds. Other reasons are the non-availability of the site for GTB, many revisions in drawings by consultants, ban on construction works due to pollution followed by restrictions. STP & water tanks work is delayed due to changes in the capacity of sizes," says the progress report of PWD.
At the GTB hospital, the project was started in September 2021 with the deadline for completion being February 2022. Due to the delay, the date has been revised to December this year.
An official at CNBC informed The Indian Express, "Work on the ground, third and fourth floors is held up due to changes desired by MD/DGHS. The consultant has modified plans, which are to be approved by DGHS."
The work at Madipur Hospital is over by 87%. An official said, "However, factory approval is yet to be submitted for structural glazing work to commence. This is becoming a critical hindrance."
