Cuttack: Junior doctors of SCB Medical College and Hospital here have gone on a cease work stir from after a minor scuffle between a patients attendant and a junior doctor.
The junior doctors also closed the casualty department of the hospital last night after the scuffle.
The police swung into action and detained a person in connection with Tuesday's scuffle but the striking doctors gheraoed the office of the hospital superintendent and boycotted their duties.
The strike, they said, will continue till their demands for adequate security, removal of hospital superintendent and enhancement of their monthly stipend are fulfilled.
Odisha health minister Pratap Jena has assured that appropriate action would be taken against the culprits and appealed to the striking doctors to resume their duties immediately.
