WHAT IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH?
Breast cancer awareness month is a global healthcare event that has been held every October for the past 37 years to raise awareness of breast cancer.
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THE PINK RIBBON?
The Pink Ribbon represents bravery in the face of breast cancer, hope for the future, and the selflessness of individuals and organizations fighting the disease against all odds.
HISTORY OF BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
The American Cancer Society launched the event in 1985 as a week-long awareness campaign in collaboration with Imperial Chemical Industries. It eventually became a month-long festival. The pink ribbon was introduced in 1992.
SIGNIFICANCE OF BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiatives educate people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer as well as strategies to prevent it, such as how to perform a self-exam, how to get proper screening, and the necessity of getting regular mammograms.
BREAST CANCER PREVENTION TIPS
Aerobic exercises can help reduce the risk. Twice a week, do strength training and stretching to improve balance and flexibility. Abstinence from alcohol and smoking. Limit yourself to three to five servings per week.
