CLADE 9 VZV NEW CHICKENPOX VARIANT: KNOW SYMPTOMS, PREVENTION TIPS

WHAT IS CHICKENPOX?
The varicella-zoster virus (VZV) is the frequent paediatric infection that causes chickenpox. This virus is known to cause shingles in adults.
ORIGINS OF THE NEW VARIANT CLADE 9 VZV
Its Clade 9 strain was formerly thought to be the variety that circulated most frequently in nations including Germany, the UK, and the US. However, in addition to the previously identified Clade 1 and Clade 5 variants, scientists found the Clade 9 strain in India for the first time in a recent study.
SYMPTOMS OF CLADE 9 VZV
Regular chickenpox symptoms are identical to those of Clade 9 VZV infection. It is distinguished by irritating rashes that develop into blisters over time before falling off as scabs. Other signs and symptoms include fever, exhaustion, appetite loss, headache, and fatigue.
TREATMENT FOR THIS NEW CHICKENPOX VARIANT
The new variant's treatment protocol is the same as the old variant's. The main goal of treatment is to reduce symptoms and discomfort. Healing can be aided by taking over-the-counter medicines, taking relaxing baths, and drinking plenty of water. One must, however, seek prompt medical assistance if there are serious circumstances or complications, such as when the central nervous system is involved.
HOW TO PREVENT A VARICELLA-ZOSTER INFECTION?
Vaccinating children as recommended by a doctor or the immunisation recommendations is the first line of defence against chickenpox. However, despite having milder symptoms, breakthrough infections can occasionally happen following immunisation. So, maintaining excellent hygiene by regularly washing your hands can help lower the chance of infection. As long as infectivity persists, one should avoid close contact with chickenpox patients, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Chickenpox is considered contagious 1 to 2 days before rash development till scab formation.
