HISTORY OF WORLD AIDS DAY
World AIDS Day was the first ever globally recognized day for global health and was founded in 1988. Every year, organizations affiliated with the UN, governments, and civil society come together to promote campaigns centered on certain HIV-related issues. Activities to raise awareness are conducted all throughout the world.
WHAT IS AIDS?
Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is the last stage of HIV. HIV interferes with your body's capability to fight disease and infection by weakening your immune system.
SYMPTOMS OF AIDS
Some common symptoms are Fever, Fatigue, Swollen lymph nodes (first signs of HIV infection), Diarrhea, Weight loss, Oral yeast infection (thrush), Shingles (herpes zoster), and Pneumonia.
CAUSES OF AIDS
Aids is caused by a virus (HIV). It can be transmitted by sexual contact, sharing needles for unauthorized injection of drugs, contact with infected blood, or from mother to child when pregnant, giving birth, or feeding.
TREATMENT OF AIDS
Although there is no known cure for AIDS, strict adherence to antiretroviral regimens (ARVs) can significantly delay the disease's progression as well as avoid complications and secondary infections.
