ABOUT WORLD COPD DAY
World COPD Day is organized by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) in collaboration with healthcare professionals and COPD patient groups throughout the world. Its aim is to raise awareness, share knowledge, and discuss ways to reduce the burden of COPD worldwide.
HISTORY OF WORLD COPD DAY
The first World COPD Day was held in 2002. Each year organizers in more than 50 countries have carried out activities, making the day one of the world's most important COPD awareness and education events. GOLD organizes World COPD day every year.
SYMPTOMS OF COPD
Common Symptoms of COPD develop from mid-life onwards: including breathlessness or difficulty breathing, chronic cough, often with phlegm, and tiredness.
CAUSES OF COPD
COPD develops gradually over time, often resulting from a combination of risk factors: Tobacco, Difficulty taking a deep breath, Asthma in childhood, Dust, Fumes or Chemicals, High levels of smoke exposure, Indoor air pollution, and High levels of smoke exposure.
TREATMENT FOR COPD
Treatments for COPD include- Stopping smoking, inhalers, tablets, pulmonary rehabilitation, surgery, or a lung transplant.
