WORLD HEARING DAY

3RD MARCH 2023
THEME FOR 2023
The topic for this year is "Ear and hearing care for all!" The necessity of including ear and hearing care in routine medical treatment is highlighted by this year's World Hearing Day topic.
WHAT IS WORLD HEARING DAY?
World Hearing Day is held on 3 March annually to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world. At its headquarters in. Geneva, WHO organizes an annual World Hearing Day event.
HISTORY OF WORLD HEARING DAY
The day was commemorated for the first time in 2007. Earlier, the day was originally known as International Ear Care Day. Later, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared World Hearing Day in 2016. Since then, the day has been celebrated annually on March 3.
According to WHO, ear and hearing problems are among the most common problems encountered in the community. Over 60% of these can be identified and addressed at the primary level of care. Integration of ear and hearing care into primary care services is possible through training and capacity building at this level. Such integration will benefit people and help countries move towards the goal of universal health coverage.
