This comes after doctor and medical students of GMCH went on an indefinite strike yesterday as a mark of protest against the authorities who still have done an enquiry against the accused doctor. Supporting the striking doctors, the press note of Central MARD stated " The nagpur incident.. where one resident doctor tried to commit , female resident doctor filed a complain of sexual harassment and 1000 undergraduates complained against 1 person is very serious.. Just because he is a relative of finance minister, he cannot be given special treatment. The medical education secretary office, DMER and GMC Nagpur dean have failed to perform their duty. As a result, left with no other option, Central MARD has decided to go on an indefinite strike from Thursday morning, 8 am all over Maharahstra."
Central MARD, an organisation having more than 4500 members as members, has also demanded Dr Vyawahare must be immediately suspended and enquiry committee of preferable 3 retired judges set up for departmental enquiry.
This is second time that MARD will go on strike in 6 months period. Earlier during the strike in the month of July, Central MARD was promised a number of things, none of which have been completed. As pointed out by Dr Sagar Mundada, President MARD, following is the status of the previous demands

- Stipend increment by Rs 5000, no action taken till now
- Sanction of TB/Maternity Leave, Files still stuck in bureaucratic red tape
