New Delhi: Doctor protests against corruption Delhi Hospital

New Delhi: Dr Avinash Kumar, currently the H.O.D of Medicine department at Babu Jagjiwan Ram Hospital, has gone on a protest against the acts of corruption in government hospitals in the capital. Sitting outside in a Dharna at Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital, the hospital where the senior doctor was previously employed, Dr Avinash demands strong implementation of the Whistleblower Act, 2011 to protect the whistleblowers at the hands of the corrupt members in the authorities and ensure transparency in activities pertaining to the health sector

Dr Avinash, who identifies himself to be a victim of corruption was allegedly transferred away from Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital, after he allegedly exposed the corruption in various activities of the hospital including tendering process of essential medical supplies and promotion of doctors. He also runs a website, corruptionfile.com which systematically lists instances of corruption and persons involved.

Dr Avinash has been sitting on a Dharna as a last resort, to throw light on the corrupt activities and demanding proper implementation of the Whistleblower act, specifically to protect the identity of whistleblowers to prevent harassment in future
