Absent or late during MCI Inspection: Medical Faculty, SRs lose out Pay Increment, face salary cut
Patna: Taking Stringent cognizance of doctors including medical faculty as well as senior residents being either late or absent at the time of Medical Council of India (MCI) inspection of state medical colleges, the Bihar Health department has now ordered punishment for such doctors.
The punishment ranges from stoppage of one scheduled increment in pay scale to the cutting/deduction of salary for a period of one week
It is reported that at various dates in 2018 and 2019, inspections had been carried out by the apex medical council, MCI at the various government medical colleges in the state. These included Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Bhagalpur, Government Medical College, Bettiah, Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital, Gaya; Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences, Pawapuri; Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Medical College & Hospital, Madhepura; Nalanda Medical College and Hospital, Patna
On the days of the said MCI inspections, many medical practitioners including the senior medical teachers, senior residents, tutors, demonstrators as well as junior residents were either absent or were found coming late to their respective institutes. Taking stringent cognizance of them being absent or late, the Bihar Health department ordered punishment for such doctors and recently communicated the same. Punishments include
All the doctors have been strictly warned not to repeat the same in future

- 26 medical teachers which include many Assistant professors/associte professors, professors HOD at various departments in these medical colleges have now lost one increment on account of being late/absent during the MCI inspections
- 27 Ad- hoc teachers, senior residents, tutors in these colleges have also been denied one increment in salary as a part of the punishment
- 75 Visiting/contract medical faculty, SR and tutors are now facing a 7-day salary cut as part of the said punishment
- Similarly,36 junior residents at these medical colleges are also facing a 7-day salary cut on account of being absent/late on the respective inspections
All the doctors have been strictly warned not to repeat the same in future
