He is the chairman of Max Institute of Laparoscopic, Endoscopic & Bariatric Surgery and also the chairman of Surgery & Allied Surgical Specialities. He is the Honorary Laparoscopic Surgeon to The President of India, Honorary Laparoscopic Surgeon to Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) and the surgeon to his Holiness Dalai Lama. Earlier he was the President of International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) 2012-2013.
