150 cartons of medicine destroyed due to heavy rains in Gurgaon

A secondary healthcare centre in Gurgaon has reported a loss of 150 cartons due too water-logging in the warehouse in sector 10

Gurgaon has witnessed heavy rains and massive jams on the road, as a result causing civil inconvenience. It (the rains) has also disturbed the healthcare system in the sector 10 of this cosmopolitan city causing damage of 150 cartons of medicine, essentially supplied to its neighbouring districts including, Gurgaon, Rewari, Palwal, Narnaul and Mewat.

Also, as reported by the sources to The Indian Express, officials said approximately 50 cartons, containing medicines such as Cetirizine, Betadine and Soframycin, had to be thrown away. Many bottles of cough syrup and bandaging packages were also ruined.

However, no injections have been reportedly damaged as they were kept in cold storage.

“The medicines were being stored in the basement temporarily as there is no permanent storage facility. However, there has been a proposal to shift the medicine cartons to a warehouse belonging to the Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (HAFED) at Jharsa Road,” said Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Pushpa Bishnoi.
