2 missing doctors found in Sikkim

According to the police, the two doctors went together from Delhi and were staying with each other since then.


New Delhi: The hunt for the two missing doctors from New Delhi came to conclusion after exhaustive search as both the medical practitioners were traced from Sikkim via electronic surveillance by the search team. The doctors were found safe and sound and were brought back to the national capital on January 1 2020, for further investigation.


On December 31, the paediatrician was first traced through electronic surveillance. Following this, a team was sent to Ralong, wherein, the two doctors were finally found staying together with each other since they had left Delhi, reports PTI.


According to the police, the two doctors went together from Delhi and were staying with each other since then.


The search operation for the two doctors was underway since they went missing on Christmas Eve and a report was filed with the Hauz Khas police. Following this, a case was registered and an investigation was initiated. Moreover, the medical fraternity had also demanded the Home Ministry to intervene in the matter and help find the doctors.

Medical Dialogues had recently reported about the case of the medicos who had gone missing from Delhi since December 25th 2019 under mysterious circumstances prompting their families to resort for help via social media. One of the missing resident doctors was associated with the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI Chandigarh) while the other one was working with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.


Police inquiry revealed that the female doctor's husband was a friend of the lost paediatrician. The husband told the police that he had left for his duty on December 25 from 8 am till 2 in the afternoon. In between, he spoke to his wife over a phone call around 11 am. Thereafter, there was no clue of her

As per a senior police official, on December 25 the female doctor allegedly informed her spouse, who is also a doctor that she and the paediatrician were going to church, but they did not come back and their phones were also switched off.


During the investigation, their mobile phones and social network accounts such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Gmail were kept on electronic surveillance, the official added.


Various teams were constituted and an exhaustive search was made in hotels, guest houses and hospitals at Delhi, National Capital Region and Chandigarh, he further added.


Moreover, their relatives, friends and colleagues were contacted and their call detail records were procured and analysed and CCTV footage of nearby areas were checked and the routes were examined. A team was also sent to one of the doctors' native place, Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.


Bank accounts, ATM, credit card details were also procured and kept under surveillance. Various cab service providers were also contacted for investigation, they said.


The efforts led to the tracing of the paediatrician on December 31 and subsequently the female doctor was also found.
