5 persons including quack hospital owner held for selling a newborn baby

Hyderabad: Parents of an infant girl were among the seven persons, including a quack, arrested by the police for allegedly selling her for Rs 35,000.

Police today said Korra Vanitha and her husband got Rs 10,000 as their share for selling the newborn to Esari Ravi and Esari Varalaxmi.

Other accused are RMP doctor Shanker and one Srinivas, an employee of the Telangana Multi-Speciality Hospital, where Vanitha gave birth.

“The RMP N Shankar and the hospital administrator N Srinivas requested Vanitha and Jawaharlal to sell away the child for money. The couple readily agreed as they already had two daughters,'' the DCP said.

"Shanker and Srinivas through a middle person convinced Vanitha and her husband into selling their baby to Esari Ravi and Easri Varalaxmi for Rs 35,000.

"They sold the newborn for Rs 35,000, out of which they gave Rs 10,000 to baby's parents while rest Rs 25,000 were shared equally among themselves by Shankar, Srinivas, and mediator Shantha," the Rachakonda Police stated in a release.
