New Delhi: In laws and husband of AIIMS doctor Ritu Bangoti, who had committed suicide at her home in east Delhi's IP Extension last week, were arrested for allegedly harassing the girl over dowry demand.

Ghanshyam Singh Bangoti (69) and Leena Bangoti (63) were arrested on Wednesday while her husband Brajesh, who is a pilot, was arrested last week itself.

30-year-old Dr Ritu Bangoti, who worked at Anesthesia department of AIIMS, injected herself with some poisonous substance at her flat in Kurmanchal Apartment on 16 September.

Following accusations by her family members that Ritu's in-laws had been harassing her for dowry, the police had started investigation by questioning the family and neighbours.

Ritu did not leave behind any suicide note but her family said demands for dowry had constantly worried her. The police was informed about the death of the doctor by her brother who had made a PCR call.

Ritu, who got married three years ago and has left behind a two-year-old daughter, was allegedly having strained relations with her husband. Neighbours reported that the couple had frequent fights over domestic issues.
