AP Hospital booked under IPC 420, 384 for allegedly asking for organ donation in lieu of treatment bill
The wife of the brain dead patient had alleged that the hospital authorities had allegedly asked her to donate kidneys of the patient in lieu of the treatment cost.
Nellore: A case has been registered against Simhapuri Hospitals under IPC Sections 420 (cheating), 384 (extortion) and Section 19 of the Transplantation Human Organs Act for allegedly asking the patient's relative for organ donation in lieu of the treatment charge of Rs 1.27 lakh.
The case relates to a patient who was critically injured in a road accident after which he was rushed to the Simhapuri Hospital in Nellore.
After treatment, the hospital administration handed over the bill of Rs 1.27 lakh to which the wife of the patient expressed an inability to pay. It was alleged that the hospital authorities had allegedly asked her to donate kidneys of the patient in lieu of the treatment cost.
