New Delhi, Nov 23 : Apollo Health & Lifestyle (AHLL), an arm of healthcare major Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, has inked a pact with Malaysia-based Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare (Ramsay) to offer diabetes care to people in that country.

As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Apollo Health & Lifestyle and Ramsay aim to pool their resources and expertise to provide care to people with diabetes in Malaysia, the company said in a statement.

The intent is to start these services in Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care owned hospitals, and expand across neighbourhood clinics, it added.

Commenting on the development, Apollo Hospitals MD and Apollo Health & Lifestyle Ltd Chairperson Suneeta Reddy said: "We are delighted to partner with Ramsay to bring our expertise to care for diabetic patients in Malaysia."

Across India, we deliver care to over 200,000 diabetic patients through nearly 100 clinics (Apollo Clinics and Apollo Sugar Clinics), she added.

"We will begin this collaboration with a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence to be set up in Subang Jaya Medical Centre, our flagship hospital," Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care Chairman Jacob Thomas said.

This centre would offer a full range of outpatient, inpatient, and a comprehensive set of supporting services to address diabetes. It will be called Apollo Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care Centre for Obesity, Diabetes and Endocrinology, he added.

This partnership with Apollo represents a significant milestone for the two leading care delivery organisations to come together to provide care to people with diabetes across Malaysia, Thomas said.
