Army Hospital in Kargil conducts over 200 surgeries

People who have no access to proper healthcare in their areas (in and around Kargil) found relief in the army hospital in Kargil. The doctors in Army Hospital in Kargil have been reported to have conducted over 200 surgeries in the past one year. Of these, 105 surgeries were major including a gallbladder surgery on a 60-year-old government employee for removing stones, which the doctors treated as a difficult one.

"In the last one year, the military hospital in Kargil conducted 105 major and 101 minor surgeries on the civilians residing in and around the region who don't have access to proper healthcare facilities," a defence spokesman said here today.

He said the army doctors performed a gallbladder surgery on a 60-year-old government employee for removing stones.

The surgery was a difficult one, considering the patient's age and the intra-operative heavy bleeding that occurred from gallbladder on bed of liver.

"Three pints of blood was given to the patient during the operation and four more pints in the next two days," he said.

On the fourth day, the patient was allowed to take oral fluids and on the fifth, he was allowed to move.

"The patient is recovering well at the hospital," he said. TSS AB GVS
