Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), including heart disease and stroke, causes 17.3 million deaths each year, and the numbers are rising. Heart disease is actually the number one killer of women, causing 1 in 3 female deaths: shockingly, that’s about one death per minute! Children are vulnerable too - the risk for CVDs can begin before birth during foetal development, and increase further during childhood with exposure to unhealthy diets, lack of exercise and smoking.

Taking cue from the theme of this World Heart Day, Artemis Heart Centre at Artemis Hospital Gurgaon is focusing on ‘creating healthy heart environments’. To promote a healthy heart environment, Artemis Heart Centre strives to provide the patients with expert treatment and care. The team at Artemis offers the patients an ethical and compassionate environment, backed by state-of-the-art technology. The team of experts led by Dr. (Col.) Manjinder Sandhu, Medical Director & Director Cardiology, believes in carrying out an in-depth investigation of the patient’s condition, taking into account patient’s complete medical history therefore tailoring a cost-effective treatment plan for each.

Dr. Sandhu says, “Artemis has an experienced team of doctors, who specialise in Complex Angioplasty techniques, using Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR). Artemis Hospitals has Gurgaon’s first Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre, with high-tech equipments to enable the participant to achieve his/her optimal physical, psychological and social functioning through exercise training and lifestyle modification.”

“We take great pride in our Paediatric Cardiology team which offers the services of cardiologists, surgeons, anaesthesiologists and intensivists – all under one roof – to diagnose and treat cardiac issues in new-borns and foetuses alike.”
