Rewari AYUSH dispensary introduces mud pack, Jalneti for seasonal ailments
Rewari: The AYUSH dispensary located in Sector-4, Rewari, has introduced traditional naturopathy treatments to enhance patient care and promote natural healing practices. The newly launched therapies include mud-pack therapy and jalneti, which are gaining attention for their effectiveness in treating common seasonal ailments.
The initiative has been taken in response to an increase in patients visiting the outpatient department with complaints such as abdominal pain, cramps, and diarrhoea, largely caused by changing weather conditions and poor dietary habits. On average, three to four such cases are being reported daily, reports Amar Ujala.
District Ayurveda Officer Dr. Basant Kumar stated that mud-pack therapy is a well-established natural treatment that provides significant relief, especially in stomach and eye-related conditions. The therapy helps cool the body, improves digestion, reduces abdominal discomfort, and aids in flushing out toxins from the system. It is considered a safe and cost-effective treatment method within naturopathy.

The preparation of the mud pack follows a simple yet carefully monitored process to ensure its effectiveness and safety for therapeutic use. First, clean, impurity-free soil is selected and thoroughly filtered to remove stones, debris, or any harmful particles. This soil is then soaked in clean water for approximately 12 hours, allowing it to soften and achieve a smooth, consistent texture suitable for application. After adequate soaking, the prepared mud is placed onto a clean cotton cloth and spread evenly to form a layer that is typically about half an inch to one inch thick.
This mud layer is then gently applied to specific areas of the body based on the patient’s condition and symptoms. Common application areas include the abdomen for digestive issues, the forehead or head for headaches, the eyes for irritation or strain, and the spine for overall relaxation and therapeutic benefit. The pack is usually left in place for a prescribed duration, allowing the cooling and detoxifying properties of the mud to take effect. This method is widely regarded in naturopathy as a natural and non-invasive way to promote healing and restore balance in the body.
Additionally, naturopathy expert Dr. Rakesh Chhillar emphasized the therapeutic benefits of jalneti, especially for individuals suffering from sinusitis, chronic colds, nasal blockages, and various types of allergies. He explained that jalneti is a traditional yogic cleansing technique that focuses on maintaining nasal hygiene and improving respiratory health. The process involves the use of a specially designed pot, commonly known as a neti pot, filled with lukewarm saline water. The water is gently poured into one nostril, allowing it to flow through the nasal cavity and exit from the other nostril, reports The Daily.
This controlled flow of water helps in thoroughly cleansing the nasal passages by removing accumulated mucus, dust particles, allergens, and other impurities. As a result, it not only clears congestion but also improves breathing and reduces the frequency of sneezing and irritation. Regular practice of jalneti is also believed to help in relieving headaches associated with sinus pressure and enhancing overall nasal function. Due to its natural and non-invasive approach, it is widely recommended as a supportive therapy for maintaining respiratory wellness.
Health experts have emphasized preventive measures, including maintaining hygiene, drinking boiled water, avoiding stale food, washing hands regularly, and staying hydrated through ORS or lemon water intake.
