Stop advertising claims of Coronil as COVID cure until approval: AYUSH Ministry to Patanjali

Hence, authorities ordered Patanjali to stop advertising or publicizing their claims of coronil being a COVID treatment until it is fully examined and approved by the Ministry of Ayush and ICMR.

Previously the Medical Dialogues team has reported that Yoga Guru Ramdev while launching Coronil said that they are "Coming up with a clinically tested, evidence-based medicine was a challenge". Patanjali claims those who administered the medicine were fully cured and none died. Ramdev even claimed that 69 percent of them recovered within 3 days. Many of the common people, as well as doctors, have been requesting ICMR to check the authenticity of Coronil. However, the ayurvedic medicines come under the authority of Ayush Ministry and they issued a statement after analyzing the claims of Patanjali. 

The ministry said, "Patanjali Ayurved Ltd has been asked to provide at the earliest details of the name and composition of the medicines being claimed for COVID treatment; site(s)/hospital(s), where the research study was conducted for COVID-19; protocol, sample size, Institutional Ethics Committee clearance, CTRI registration and results data of the study (ies) and stop advertising/publicizing such claims till the issue is duly examined."

Moreover, as Patanjali got the license from the State authorities of Uttarakhand, "the Ministry has also requested concerned State Licensing Authority of Uttrakhand Government to provide copies of license and product approval details of the Ayurvedic medicines being claimed for the treatment of COVID -19."
