Bengaluru: Medi Assist invests US$1 million in MobieFit

A Bengaluru based healthcare company Medi Assist has announced an investment of US$ 1 million in a mobile fitness company MobieFit. Targeted at the corporate fitness segment, the product will focus on providing preventing care and fitness programs to manage lifestyle medical conditions like diabetes and hypertension.

MobieFit is a Goa based company offering multi-product mobile-based fitness (mFitness) programme. With this strategic investment Medi Assist’s aims to strengthen its presence in the corporate segment as well as enhance its presence in the consumer health and fitness market.

Their debut product, FirstRun, is a voice-assisted coaching-based running app. MobieFit will launch more apps in other areas of fitness in 2016.

As reported by TOI, Satish Gidugu, COO, Medi Assist, said: "Our members use MediBuddy, our patented mobile app, to manage their health benefits and corporate wellness offerings. Mobile fitness, customized to specific needs of each individual, and combined with gamification to add a social flavour, is the next logical evolution for our mobile app users. In Mobiefit, we find a strategic partner who understands the pulse of the Medi Assist manages corporate wellness programmes for more than 5,000 corporate customers. The company uses data analytics to develop wellness programmes that address the unique requirements of each corporate and each employee. The focus is both on preventive care and fitness as well as management of chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.

As further implied by a Medi Assist spokesperson in TOI, the company is on ambitious target to achieve five million corporate employees in India.

The company uses data analytics to develop wellness programs that meaningfully address the requirements of each corporate and each employee.

MobieFit, made its debut with the fitness product FirstRun, a voice-assisted coaching-based app for assistance on running. The company has been founded by Gourav Jaswal and Indian actress Gul Panag.

Medi Assist, founded in 1999, has 5,000-plus corporate clients for its customized wellness programmes based on data analytics. In 2013, it launched its first mobile app, Medibuddy, which enables its users to plan their hospitalization, raise and track health insurance claims, search network hospitals where they can avail of cashless hospitalization and schedule appointments at hospitals, among other things, as reported by Mint
