Flying down to Guwahati, he met the Health Ministers and Secretaries of the eight north eastern states -- Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura and Sikkim in a meeting to review the facilities

Stressing on the optimum use of resources, he asserted that there is no shortage of funds for ensuring health care services. He further urged the states to submit utilisation reports in time for streamlining the flow of funds.

Mr J P Nadda also said that a regional resource centre for Northeast will be developed for building capacities of the states for programme implementation, laying importance on public health programme, strengthening of information, education and communication and ensuring quality assurance. For the same, a joint secretary from his Ministry will visit North Eastern states once in a month to oversee implementation of programmes and address the bottlenecks.

Further moving to shilling, he addressed the gathering at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science (NEIGRIHMS), assuring them to take up the issue of the autonomy of the institute with the centre, to help it quickly progress and be at par with other autonomous bodies in the country
