Following the tragic death of Dr Ravi Sharma at the postgraduate hostel of Ravindranath Tagore (RNT) Medical College, Udaipur, resident doctors have escalated their protests, demanding justice, accountability, and announcing a hunger strike. This comes after a serious discrepancy between two postmortem reports surfaced, raising concerns about a possible cover-up on the matter.

Two separate postmortems were conducted - one by a team from RNT Medical College and another by SMS Medical College in Jaipur - both revealed different conclusions. The first postmortem, carried out by a team at RNT Medical College, noted only superficial injuries. The report mentioned marks of abrasions on Dr. Ravi Sharma’s body and an injury on the back of his head “caused by electric shock,” but did not clearly state electrocution as the cause of death. Investigators collected a sample of normal skin and sent it to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis.

Medinirai Medical College Principal accused of harassment, threats; Students stage strike

Palamu: The medical students at Medinirai Medical College are on strike, demanding the resignation of their principal, who has been accused of harassing the students and threatening to ruin their careers.Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the students had accused the principal of making inappropriate remarks to the female students and creating a hostile environment on campus.

Ahmedabad: In a big move to improve healthcare services across the state, the Gujarat government has increased the honorarium for private visiting specialists and super-specialist doctors serving at the district hospitals, sub-district hospitals and community health centres under the Chief Minister’s Setu Scheme.

As per the new revised pay scale, visiting doctors across various categories will now receive higher daily or monthly payments for their services in government hospitals.

Now, non-surgical super-specialists and surgical super-specialists will be paid equally of Rs 8,500 per day for at least three hours of mandatory service at government hospitals. Similarly, all categories of private visiting specialist doctors will now be paid Rs 4,200 per day for three hours of service.
