New Delhi: Stressing that India is committed to achieving 'End of AIDS' as a public threat by 2030, Union Health Minister J P Nadda on World AIDS Day on Saturday said National AIDS Control Programme has been extremely successful in halting and reversing the tide of HIV/AIDS epidemic in India. The Minister tweeted, ''On this World AIDS Day, I pray for a healthy life to all PLHIV around the globe. National AIDS Control Programme has been extremely successful in halting & reversing the tide of HIV/AIDS epidemic in India.

We are committed of achieving 'End of AIDS' as a public threat by 2030.''Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel tweeted: ''Let us all come together and spread awareness, educate and improve the understanding of HIV & AIDS. For more dial AIDS helpline 1097. ''Minister of State for Health Manoj Sinha tweeted, ''Today, on World AIDS Day, let's all unite to create awareness about this disease in the people and resolve to make the nation free from the clutches of this disease.''Around 12.52 lakh people living with HIV are receiving free Anti-Retroviral Treatment through 540 ART centres in India.


World AIDS Day is one of the eight official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization (WHO), along with World Health Day, World Blood Donor Day, World Immunization Week, World Tuberculosis Day, World No Tobacco Day, World Malaria Day and World Hepatitis Day.
