Deadline Disadvantage: 500 PG doctors fail to apply for assistant professor posts

Deccan Chronicle reports that though the Telangana State Public Service Commission has set September 12, 2017, as the cut-off registration date for application, these 500 PG doctors are unable to apply despite having the qualification for the said post.

The reason behind the delay in the registration of these 500 PG students is that the batch of 2014 went on a strike, due to which their studies were delayed by two months. As a consequence of this, their registration after completion of rural service was only carried out in November 2017, after which they became eligible for degree entry in the state medical council register. As the recruitment process has begun, doctors are now demanding an extension of the cut-off date.

Dr G. Srinivas, an advisor for the Telangana Junior Doctors’ Association, says, “Post-graduates from government colleges must be considered. We are demanding an extension of the date.” A large number of these post-graduates have written to the government demanding consideration.
