Delhi doctors lend support to Prime Minister’s Khelo India campaign
New Delhi: Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inspirational ‘Khelo India’ campaign, Delhi Orthopaedic Association (DOA) organised a 'Sports Meet' in the capital’s Siri Fort Sports Complex on Sunday.
Inspired by the PM’s exhortation to give primacy to sports in everyday life and encourage various sports and games, doctors in Delhi participated enthusiastically in an array of sporting activities.
More than 100 orthopaedic doctors in the capital participated in a cricket tournament, badminton (singles/ doubles), table tennis (singles/doubles) and chess, underlining the important fact that sports are vital for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and keeping away stress and strain of modern-day existence.
Orthopaedic surgeon Dr Raju Vaishya, convenor of the sports meet, said it is important to spare time for activities like sports and exercises to maintain physical fitness, strengthen joints in the body and ward off various diseases.
“We advise patients to go for sports, exercises and other forms of physical activities, but being a doctor, it is equally important for us to actively participate in sports and exercises.
