Delhi govt to increase bed capacity in 4 hospitals

 New Delhi: The Delhi government will increase bed capacity in four hospitals --Bhagwan Mahavir, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Guru Govind Singh and Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital -- from existing 1,225 to 2,941.


A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal approved the proposal in this regard.






It approved the construction of Mother and Child and screening OPD Block at Dr Baba Sahib Ambedkar Hospital, Rohini, at an estimated cost of Rs 195 crore, which will increase the bed capacity to 963 from the existing 500 beds.


The construction of Trauma Centre & Utility Block at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Mangolpuri, at an estimated cost of Rs 118 crore will increase the bed capacity to 662, which is 300 beds at present.


Besides, the cabinet approved addition and remodelling work at Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital, Pitampura, at an estimated cost of Rs 173 crore, to increase the bed strength of this hospital to 744 from the existing 325 beds.
