Doctors Should adhere to guidelines, says council
New Delhi: Taking a strong stance against fake/inaccurate medical certificates issued by medical practitioners, the Delhi Medical Council has recently announced the suspension of four medical practitioners, for periods ranging from 1 month to 6 months, on account of unethical practices. While ordering the disciplinary action, the council was also seen asking the doctors to adhere to the guidelines for issuance of medical certificate framed by it, for future purposes.
Following are the details of the cases
CASE - Doctor 1- The council received a complaint after that the doctor gave 22 medical certificates to a patient within a span of 10 months. The disciplinary committee noted that all the treatment given and medical certificates issued by the doctor seems to be false, as the condition of the patient is not improving and remains absent from the duty despite fitness certificate issued to him by the doctor from time to time. The doctor also did not maintain O.P.D register of the patient examined by him in his clinic nor details of medical certificates issued by him. The council also observed that the doctor was using the suffix MD (Acupuncture) despite being registered with the council with an MBBS qualification and hence was violating DMC rules by using unrecognized qualifications.
