Ghaziabad: Police busted an inter-state sex determination racket active in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and arrested a lady doctor and her associate, while another doctor managed to flee.

Acting upon secret information, Sonipat police and health department of Haryana were trailing a lady doctor Anita and his compounder Gajendra, who was associated with Sahibabad based doctor Rahul Malik, Deputy Superintendent of police Manish Mishra said.

Gajendra used to bring customers to doctor Anita, who used to perform sex determination tests, he said.

One such lady, who has paid Rs 26,000 as sex determination and abortion fee to doctor Anita, exposed the nexus.

Doctor Anita called her to a clinic which is being run in a residential society of Sahibabad.

As and when the lady reached the clinic to get her fetus checked, health and police department team raided the flat, he said, adding Anita and Gajendra were nabbed while doctor Rahul fled the spot.

An FIR has been registered upon the complaint of Deputy CMO Adarsh Sharma of Haryana health department under section 23, 25 of pre-natal diagnostic techniques (regulation and prevention of misuse) act 1994.
