The book, edited by Dr. Murlidhar Rajagopalan and published by Springer Nature India Private Limited, brings together contributions from leading dermatologists and researchers across India. Split into 12 chapters and authored by 15 eminent Indian dermatologists, it offers an in-depth understanding of psoriasis from its immunopathogenesis and diagnostic approach to implementing modern treatment algorithms and integrating emerging biologic and small-molecule therapies.

The book begins with a detailed overview of psoriasis pathogenesis and epidemiology by Dr. Abir Saraswat, highlighting the genetic and immunological mechanisms underlying the disease, particularly the roles of cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-17, and IL-23.

Further chapters by Dr. Manas Chatterjee and Dr. Ruchi Hemdani outline a thorough diagnostic approach to psoriasis and describe the importance and use of diagnostic and monitoring tools like PASI, BSA, and DLQI. While Dr. Sushil Tahiliani explained psoriasis management in challenging areas like scalp, face, nails, genitals, ears, mucosa, and skin folds.

Addressing the remaining gaps in psoriasis management, Dr Krupashankar DS mentions current unmet needs focusing on complete skin clearance, comorbidities, and impact of new therapies like biologics and JAK inhibitors to achieve long-term, stable remission with minimal toxicity.

Dr. Vinay Singh provides current treatment landscapes of psoriasis by elaborating on the full range of psoriasis treatment, while Dr. Murlidhar Rajagopalan himself gives an overview of the impact of biologics and small molecules on psoriasis management.

Following chapter by Dr Abhishek De compares and analyzes major global and regional psoriasis treatment guidelines, outlining their similarities, distinctions, and practical aspects of implementation in varied clinical settings.

Other contributors, including Dr. Anju George and Dr. Dharshini Sathish kumar, address psoriasis management in special populations like children, pregnant or lactating women, the elderly, and patients with comorbidities. In a further chapter, Dr. Sunil Dogra and Dr. Hitaishi Mehta discuss in-depth about strategies of monitoring, achieving and maintaining remission in psoriasis.

Subsequently, Dr. Shekhar Neema describes stepwise psoriasis treatment approach starting with topical therapy for mild disease and advancing to systemic agents and biologics for moderate to severe cases.

Towards the end, chapters by Dr. Brijesh Nair explain about psoriatic arthritis (PsA) covering the whole clinical spectrum, diagnosis, and current treatment therapies, while Dr. Sandeep Arora elaborates on clinical, genetic, and therapeutic aspects of pustular and erythrodermic psoriasis.

Dr. Murlidhar Rajagopalan, MBBS, MD(DERM), Dermatologist, Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, Chennai, and editor of the book shared his insights, “The book ‘Psoriasis: Evidence-Based Diagnosis and Treatment’ is the comprehensive work put together by a galaxy of senior authors from India. I have had the pleasure of editing it. This is completely up-to-date, peer reviewed and covers all aspects of psoriasis, whether it is diagnosis or different presentations or high impact sites, comparing guidelines for treatment, psoriasis in special populations, or different modes of management and prognosis of psoriasis and its comorbid conditions. I do hope that all of you will find this book useful both in your day-to-day practice, and to give you some stimulus for further research and study.”

This inclusive book on psoriasis serves as a valuable resource for healthcare professionals, supporting them with practical guidance for real-world application. By integrating scientific evidence with clinical insights, this educational asset will support HCPs in making informed decisions and enhancing the effective management of psoriasis across diverse patient populations.
