DFSI Launches WoundSights-National Certification Programme in Complex Wound and Diabetic Foot Management

Mumbai: The Diabetic Foot Society of India (DFSI) proudly announces the launch of "WoundSights", a first-of-its-kind, year-long national certification programme dedicated to Complex Wound and Diabetic Foot Management. The initiative aims to equip doctors, surgeons, and also paramedical professionals working with doctors with scientific knowledge and practical insights to address one of India’s most overlooked healthcare challenges, diabetic foot ulcers.

With nearly 25% of people with diabetes in India at risk of developing a foot ulcer, and 85% of amputations arising from preventable ulcers, this structured CME programme marks a crucial step toward improving outcomes through early detection, prevention, and timely wound care. The WoundSights curriculum includes monthly interactive sessions by national experts, separate modules for doctors and nursing staff, and certification from DFSI upon completion.

Speaking to Medical Dialogues on the launch, Dr Arun Bal, Founder President, Diabetic Foot Society of India; Director of Diabetic Foot Surgery, S. L. Raheja Hospital – A Fortis Associate, Mumbai, said" Diabetic foot is a silent epidemic in India, yet it remains underdiagnosed and undertreated. Through WoundSights, DFSI aims to create a skilled network of healthcare professionals capable of managing wounds effectively reducing amputations, improving healing, and restoring quality of life for countless patients. We urge doctors to join and also get their paramedical staff enrolled for this course.”

 

Adding to this, Dr Sanjay Vaidya, Executive Committee Member & Treasurer, DFSI; Diabetic Foot Surgeon, Mumbai, shared: “For over two decades, DFSI has championed education and awareness in diabetic foot care. WoundSights is a landmark initiative-combining evidence-based knowledge with practical training for doctors and nurses alike. We are delighted to make this structured programme accessible nationwide.”
