Doctor, agent held for conducting sex-determination tests

Muzaffarnagar: A doctor and his agent have been arrested for allegedly conducting sex-determination tests in the district, the police said on Tuesday.The accused — Shah Alam and his agent Subhash Chand — were arrested -following a raid at their medical facility at Charthawal police station area on Monday, they said.
The duo was booked under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, Nodal Officer S K Aggarwal said.The police also seized machines and Rs 30,000 in cash from the unit run by the accused.
