Allahabad: President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday said "Doctors are the nation's builders, they are supposed to be the God of human being who cure patients and give them lease of life".
He further said that doctors should not run after money as service to the mankind must be their first priority. Citing an example, the President said that there were two very similar words Profession and Avocation. They had the slightest difference as the doctors were known for their medical profession and not for medical avocation as medical profession talked about the ethics while avocation was meant for minor occupation, he pointed out.
The President was speaking after inaugurating the centenary celebration of Allahabad Medical Association (AMA), branch of Indian Medical Association (IMA) here.
Mr Kovind said that doctors should treat the patients first out of humanity and not for money. They should give special attention to the poor patients who were unable to afford for their treatment.
"If a patient is suffering from critical disease, battling for his life and he/she is survived by the grace of doctor's effort, then it must be the greatest satisfaction for the doctors than that of what the same patients will feel ", he said.
